Electrical engineering student Mohammed Munir has received an EPICS experiential learning grant to attend the Clinton Global Initiative in Miami, Florida.
Munir is the team lead of the Stair Garden Project, which focuses on using alternative methods of non-commercial farming to create a sustainable Garden system in Zimbabwe. This type of garden system would be beneficial because farmers could produce a better variety of crops which would improve both the community’s health and its economy.
The Clinton Global Initiative, which will be held at the University of Miami on March 6-8 this year, engages college students and leaders across the world to help develop solutions to the world’s challenges. Attending this conference would give Munir and his team feedback and possibly even funding to further the production of their project. For instance, two sections are Environment and Climate Change and Poverty Alleviation, which are relevant to the Stair Garden Project.
This opportunity will help Munir and his team come one step closer to improving the farming and economy of Zimbabwe.
