Tempe IKE Solar Kiosk
Tuesdays, 5:15-6:05 PM
The Tempe IKE Kiosk project addresses the removal of the IKE Kiosks located around downtown Tempe from the city’s power grid and the implementation of solar power. Earlier this year, the city of Tempe partnered with Orange Barrel Media to launch 15 of these interactive kiosks intended to provide pedestrians with a business directory, wifi, and maps among other things. As of now, these kiosks are powered by the grid. However, Orange Barrel Media as well as the city of Tempe would like to have these kiosks taken off of the grid and converted to solar energy in order to lower their operating costs and to promote sustainability. In order to accomplish this, solar panels could be used.
