This project involves working with 2Unify, a robotics company that developed a robotic arm that automatically tunes a guitar without any human assistance. The challenge our group will be addressing is the lack of engineering in K-12 curriculums across the globe. Engineering is the future, however, schools rarely introduce engineering in their curriculum and what is present is not engaging or inspiring. Our goal is to change this by implementing robotic arms in different schools to help teach engineering properly to inspire thousands to change the world with engineering. Together, we strive to implement the arm across the globe with both 2Unify and Bridge2Africa.
Our end goal is to use the robotic arm’s built in Python coding language in order to encourage students to use computer science in combination with the robotic arm in order to achieve specific goals. We intend on first gaining an understanding of the robotic arm’s functionalities and limitations, along with an understanding of 2Unify’s intentions with this program. Then, we intend on determining different ways to integrate it into school systems depending on different age groups. Finally, we intend on actually implementing our program into different school systems.
