Vietnam Coral Reef Restoration – Water Monitoring

Meeting Time

Monday 6PM

Project Description

This project aims to create a water monitoring system that can help with coral reef restoration efforts in Vietnam. Our community partner is a group of local snorkelers who have noticed damage to the ecosystem that could have been caused by a multitude of reasons.

The key goal is to identify one key parameter (temperature, salinity, TDS, or other) to measure in the first iteration of the prototype. The system must be waterproof and able to withstand 1 year in the ocean.

The project, while part of the Vietnam study abroad, can be deployed in communities throughout the US and other countries. The team will work with ASU researchers and other universities closer to home to develop the solution before bringing on the December study abroad trip.
