Project description

Global EPICS Project

The batik is a sustainable piece of clothing made in Indonesia, usually made with raw materials. The production of the batik is a unique process involving dyeing the fabric repeatedly after creating wax outlines or placing other materials (often leaves) on top to create designs in the negative space. Our goal is to improve production efficiency for the women in Indonesia who make them by designing a way for more pressure to be added to the rolled fabric and to relieve the workers of occupational hazards from squatting and bending over.
