Project Description

Kebun Raya Balikpapan is located on Kalimantan (Borneo) Island, Indonesia, approximately 20 kilometers from Balikpapan City in East Kalimantan. This botanical garden covers an area of 309.8 hectares within the Wain River Reserved Forest. Established in 2009 through a collaboration between the Balikpapan City Government and various conservation organizations, it serves as a center for research, education, and conservation efforts. The garden features diverse tropical plants, including endangered species, medicinal plants, and fruit-bearing trees. It also offers various facilities such as an information center, cafe, guesthouses, and educational programs to promote sustainability and environmental awareness. The project focuses on developing the Kebun Raya Balikpapan Mobile Application. The app, which integrates augmented reality (AR), is designed to enhance the visitor experience by educating visitors about the diverse flora and fauna of the botanical garden.
