Indonesia: Biopores
Meeting Time
Wednesday 4:35pm
Project Description
Biopore Heroes: Turning Waste into Wonders!” is an environmental sustainability project designed for Adiwiyata cadres to address flooding, waste management, and soil degradation in their schools, in Surabaya. The project introduces biopore infiltration holes, which enhance water absorption, reduce organic waste, and improve soil quality. Students will learn to create and maintain biopores while actively participating in composting organic waste from daily activities. Through workshops, hands-on biopore installation, and monitoring, this initiative fosters environmental awareness and leadership skills among students. Adiwiyata cadres will lead their peers, promoting waste segregation and sustainability practices as part of their school’s eco-friendly goals. The biopores will serve as a practical solution for rainwater management, reducing runoff and supporting green spaces. By the end of the project, students will see the impact of small, consistent actions in creating healthier school environments. This initiative empowers young “eco-heroes” to turn waste into wonders and inspire their community to adopt sustainable habits.
