Project Description

This project combines microchip technology with health and nutrition – to increase safety for kittens of all ages! Currently, kittens can have microchips that carry standard information such as name and address, and more information (such as special health concerns) could be added to the chip. But, we’re thinking of incorporating technology that can open and close a cat feeder so that the cat only has access to his or her own food dish, and when they walk away, the feeder closes, helping the kitten to maintain a healthy weight. Similarly, the microchip, already inside the kitten, can also operate the fresh water access. This project also has the potential to save kittens’ lives by eliminating the need for collars which can become hazardous to outdoor kittens. And finally, the microchip could be used to activate interactive games to entertain the kittens – that bit of exercise helps keep kittens cognitively and physically active and engaged, supporting longevity!
