Project Description
Florida Community Innovation (FCI) is building a statewide Florida Resource Map(FRM), a platform to connect residents with real-time availability of critical services‚ like food, shelter, and medical care. Currently, social workers rely on calling providers manually or checking outdated spreadsheets to find out whether a shelter has beds available or if a food pantry has inventory. This results in wasted time and missed opportunities to help people in need.We’re seeking to prototype a hardware-based solution that could be deployed in nonprofit facilities alike shelters or food pantries passively sense and update availability information in real time. This would enhance the accuracy of the FRM, reduce staff burden, and make service navigation faster and more effective for vulnerable populations.
