Project Description:
Our animal shelter’s pet food bank is a community lifeline, helping families in crisis keep their pets healthy and at home. Every month, we receive thousands of pounds of donations: from pallets of kibble to single cans and bags. The generosity is incredible, but our process for getting those supplies from drop-off to a family’s hands is slower and more repetitive than it needs to be. Right now, volunteers handwrite details, then later type them into spreadsheets, leading to a lot of repeated steps and inefficiency, and a lack of inventory awareness; valuable time is spent on paperwork and shuffling products rather than serving more families. Our hope is to streamline the operation: reducing repeated steps, creating a more logical flow, and, ideally, developing a trackable inventory system. An efficient food bank means fewer pets surrendered, more families supported, and a stronger community safety net, all of which extend our mission.
