Project Description:

We plan to solve inefficiencies in the current manual inventory management system at Lost Our Home Pet Rescue by developing inventory management system software.  We aim to use a free open-source website framework to streamline the process of tracking and updating the donations inventory. Our solution will also track the completion of donation items while syncing this data to a barcode scanner.  Then, our team will focus on creating a development map for this semester on how to customize the inventory management system to best address our Community Partner’s needs. The system can reduce the time for logging new items and eliminate errors in the tracking process for staff and volunteers by allowing easy updates and automatic alarms. We hope to make an impact by helping the community partner spend less time and energy on tracking items and focus more on the pets, as well as improving the storage organization and reducing waste.
