Meeting Time:
Wednesday 4:00-5:15pm
Project Description:
Arizona is known for the Saguaro cactus. In order to monitor the health and growth of saguaro cacti across the state, Tonto National Forest uses citizens to manually log the health and status of the cacti in plotted areas. The current process requires a significant number of volunteers to accurately track the health, growth, and status of these cacti. The team will create new tools to help automate and streamline the current process.Possible solutions: mobile application to scan Saguaros, mounted camera system on a drone which uses software to scan saguaro cacti, and other type of mounts and tools to accurately capture the data needed by the community partner
