Project Description:
Tarpuna is a co-op that focuses on sustainable initiatives for social transformation. Founded in 2012, Tarpuna’s first projects focused on social agriculture, but the organization has since expanded into other areas, including energy efficiency, digital manufacturing, and social innovation. One of the project areas is social agriculture. This project focuses on improving the small greenhouses Tarpuna uses in urban environments. Potential areas of improvement include, but are not limited to, enhanced temperature/humidity control, improved insulation/ventilation to reduce pathogens, and an irrigation system tailored to the specific crops being grown, rather than relying solely on a timer.
