Project Description:
The goal of our team is to successfully allocate ECMO machines to patients throughoutArizona. Considering that these patients come from different walks of life, we consider several pointsin allocating a limited medical resource. These points include proximity to hospitals, criticality of condition(s),age, transportation availability, urgency status, availability of ECMO machines, and more. Thus, our project’soverarching goal is to streamline the allocation of ECMO machines in Arizona while considering these criticalfactors. We aim to lessen the gap in accessing these ECMO devices in a timely and equitable manner, notingthat there are only 27 currently registered machines statewide.
