Climate Change – Tempe Town Lake

The challenge we plan on addressing is water quality at Tempe Town Lake. Numerous sports teams at ASU and community events such as triathlons take place at the lake. Due to it being a man made lake that is fed from the Salt River, the water quality is often very low. Stagnant water combined with a high pH and the high temperatures lead to algae that lowers oxygen levels in the water leading to numerous dead fish and a green tinge.
